Retail technology platform Repsly has formed a tech partnership with Curaleaf, one of America’s largest cannabis companies, according to a Wednesday (Feb. 2) press release.

The partnership will see Replsy support Curaleaf’s wholesale operations through customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, retail execution support and business analytics and insights, the release stated.

Curaleaf operates 125 dispensaries in 23 states, making it one of the largest vertically integrated cannabis providers in the nation, according to the release. The company chose Repsly when it realized it needed to enhance its technology stack to support its go-to-market needs. The platform is expected to roll out sometime this month.

“With Repsly’s powerful operational platform and their Insights Dashboard business intelligence solution, we’ll be able to assess our wholesale execution plans with real-time and trended data on sales performance, promotion execution and more,” said Curaleaf Senior Vice President of Sales Patrick Larkin in the release. “These data-driven insights will allow our team to learn and pivot on a dime as feedback comes in from their field.”

Repsly CEO Matthew Brogie said in the release: “Knowing that we have the opportunity to help Curaleaf navigate competitively in one of the fastest growing consumer industries, and that we can support Curaleaf and their portfolio of brands in their next generation plans is extremely energizing for our team”

Recreational cannabis use is legal in 18 states, as well as the District of Columbia, the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam. Meanwhile another 13 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands have decriminalized its use, while 36 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have allowed the use of medical marijuana.

When the pandemic began, many cannabis operations felt a sense of optimism after the government declared their businesses “essential.”

Curaleaf CEO Boris Johnson noted at the time that in the wake of the Great Depression, governments scrambled to seek out ways to generate taxes, and cannabis “is a significant revenue generator.”

“They lifted prohibition on alcohol and therefore started to tax it — and it became a major revenue generator for both the federal and the local governments around the country,” he said.
