The deal announced in March 2021 two years after Caesars Entertainment sold the off-Strip all-suites casino resort to Dreamscape Companies has officially been executed.

World of Hyatt members who book a trip to Rio will find an updated resort following the completion of the property’s first phase of its much-needed $340 million overhaul.

Rio’s Destination by Hyatt brand affiliation marks an exciting new chapter for our resort through our progressive evolution,” said Patrick Miller, president and CEO of Rio Hotel & Casino. “We’ve not only reenergized the resort’s design and experience, but we’ve proudly honored its legacy as a quintessential Las Vegas icon, providing World of Hyatt members and global travelers with even more ways to immerse themselves in our destination’s fun, energetic, and eclectic atmosphere.”

Miller’s comments stem from the first renovation phase including a full redesign of all 1,500 guestrooms in the Ipanema Tower. The makeover maintained the resort’s Rio de Janeiro influence with bold, vibrant colors.

The first phase additionally included the new Canteen Food Hall featuring six different culinary options, 220K square feet of renovated convention space, a revamped pool complex, 500 new slot machines, and 30 new table games on the casino floor.

Phase two will see the Masquerade Tower undergo a similar overhaul. The resort’s public spaces will also be upgraded.

Officials with Dreamscape tell Casino.org that the focus of the $340 million investment is to “create a vibrant and dynamic lifestyle experience at the intersection of affordability and indulgence.”

Dreamscape is a residential, retail, hospitality, entertainment, and gaming real estate development firm controlled by its founder and CEO Eric Birnbaum. Dreamscape bought the aging casino resort, which faced numerous complaints in the years leading up to its sale, in December 2019 for $516.3 million.

To celebrate becoming the newest Destination by Hyatt member, which allows the Hyatt rewards program to be used at independent hotels and resorts like Rio, the Las Vegas casino is offering discounted rates. Rio is participating in Hyatt’s cyber sale that runs through Dec. 9 for stays through April 20, 2025.

Rio rooms booked through the resort’s website are being offered at 50% off for stays of two nights or longer.

World of Hyatt rewards members will see Rio’s $50 nightly resort fee waived on free night awards. Hyatt members at the elite “Globalist” tier always have resort fees waived.

The tier, however, requires 60 nights or 100K points a year. Every dollar spent on a room generates five World of Hyatt points, meaning you’ll need to spend $20K a year on Hyatt rooms to achieve the Globalist tier. However, there are many other ways to accrue points from dining, spa, and experience spending.
