Ukraine continues to fortify its border with Belarus despite lack of immediate threats

Ukraine continues to build fortifications and lay minefields near the border with Belarus, although no actions have been recorded there that would pose an immediate threat to Ukraine at the moment. Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, said this during the national telethon on 10 December, according to public broadcaster Suspilne.

European Parliament’s resolution brands Lukashenka regime “accomplice” in Russia’s war crimes, and Belarus Russia’s “satellite state”

Since Belarus remains Russia’s ally, the Belarusian direction is a top security priority in terms of security for Ukraine and Ukraine remains vigilant due to Belarus’s continued support for Russia, according to Demchenko.

“Fortunately, there are no actions on the other side of the border that would pose a threat to Ukraine at the moment. Besides, Russia does not have enough of its troops and equipment in Belarus to invade again. However, we understand that Belarus continues to support the aggressor country, so this area continues to be reinforced along the entire border line and mined,” he said.

Also, the Ukraine border crossing points on the Belarusian border remain shut down.
