Nebraska women’s basketball didn’t have a problem in their opening game of the Puerto Rico Clasico.
The Huskers took care of business against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 73-44 Friday. The win improves Nebraska to 4-2 on the season.
TAMUCC began the game with a 12-5 run, but NU answered with a 17-2 run of its own. From there, it was all Nebraska the rest of the way as the Huskers pulled away for the 29-point victory.
Annika Stewart came off the bench to score a game-high 23 points, including a trio of triples. She helped Nebraska shoot 11-of-28 from deep as part of a 44 percent shooting day.
Alexis Markowski earned a second-consecutive double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Allison Weidner (13) and Jaz Shelley (11) each also scored in double-figures.
Nebraska closes out their trip to San Juan Saturday with a game against Mississippi State.
